Mentor, Ohio November 15, 2020 – Air Technical Industries (ATI) announces the exciting development of a unique, innovative scissor lift self-propelled with Omni- directional mobility and infinitely variable speed control, and microprocessor control. The large deck is equipped with a special telescoping platform that reaches out 10 foot over and beyond locomotive or rail cars for service, cleaning or replacing windows on the opposite side or rooftop air conditioner repair or installation. So it can reach front, top and beyond to the opposite side during train stops for pronto emergency service/repair. The deck at the lift is also equipped with a triple section hydraulic boom crane, that can help to lift up replacement parts or equipment. The crane may also be used as a safety fall restrain for the operator.
The deck is equipped with 42” high safety railing with mid rail and 4” kick board. On the work platform there is a duplex 110 Volts receptacle for convenience to operate for electric hand tools, or work lights.
The unit is hydraulically operated for all the function and lifting has special hydraulic holding valves for safety and unique hydraulic design to compensate for the long cantilever offset load of the telescoping platform to keep the deck level, horizontal. Key safety features include platform overload device and tilt sensor to protect stability of the telescopic platform.
The hydraulic crane has a triple section boom, powered mast rotation and lift up to 10′ above the deck. The floor of the deck and telescopic platform is skid proof for safety. The unit is powered by 4 heavy duty AGM, maintenance-free batteries, 48 Volt DC with built-in battery charger. The propulsion is controlled by a joystick forward/reverse and steering left and right. Drive wheels have automatic braking system. Hydraulic system has 7 separate hydraulic functions and is specifically tailored towards rail car maintenance, equipped with safety relief valves. Also unit is equipped with amber colored running light and audible running signal. Access entry ladder and safety locking door that only opens inward to prevent accidental opening outward. Also unit is equipped with lockable tool box for miscellaneous storage of tools or accessories such as the charging cable and 110V power cable.
The lifting capacity is 1000lb, the deck size 6′ wide x 12′ long, lowered height is 42” vertical lift 13′ and max raised ht of 16½’. Plenty of room on the deck for operators, tool boxes and miscellaneous equipment.
While this design is specifically tailored towards rail car maintenance, there are many other similar and potential application such as aircraft manufacturing or maintenance, construction projects, energy industry, petrochemical and manufacturing assembly of large machinery.
